Hi folks,
With all this talk about the future of Foxpro, I think this following quote will put a little bit of sunshine into our lives.
" So what we're going to do is show you how you can take advantage of distributed components that you've built, using any of the distributed component tools, Visual C++, Visual Basic, Visual J++, or even Visual Fox Pro, if you want to build really data intensive components, Visual Fox Pro is great for that. "
This quote was made by Paul Gross, Vice President of MS Tools Division at the Professional Developers Conference in front of 6200 developers. These are mainly VB, VC++ developers. He was talking about the future of application development and the use of Visual Studio for developing application components.
Ok, so it's not exactly putting VFP front and center stage and they didn't appear to actually demonstrate using VFP, but it does show that VFP is still on their minds.
The advancements that have been announced for the upcoming version of VFP are perfectly in line with the development strategy that Microsoft are pushing developers to follow. This means that VFP is going to continue to be a viable platform to develop components that integrate with the rest of the MS developer products.
Just my two cents worth.
