Hi!

1. Although almost any task can be made using almost any development tool, it's not a good idea to make it in VFP. This app is not database oriented and will work with low-level API functions. Visual C++ or Delphi (pardon!) will be a right choice.

2. In addition to Cetin says. If you have a large number of files on CD, file searching every time may be not effective. Create two tables - one with CD volume names (or other CD ID) and second with file information and file path.
Application should check content of CD drives and if new CD detected, then append all files on CD into second table.

>1- Is it possible to create an exe file in vfp5.0 to see in a grid each time i want to check all users connected to an specific server and the files opened by them ?

>2- let assume that i have a computer(and this computer allow file sharing computer name=allcds,runnig winnt 4.0 server or maybe win98se), with 5 cd-rom of course each of them have a different drive letter and they are already shared ,so all users that are connected to the network they could see them, the thing is that in each cd inserted in each cd-rom i will have different files, for example i want to be able to create an exe file in vfp5.0 that the users will be presented by a textbox in order to search for a file for hence when the user type the filename in the textbox without the ext(in this case all the files are with the ext DWG)the application can able to search where the file is located and maybe able to open the file from there(these are autocad dwg files) or if the application is able to show in wich cd-rom drive letter and folder is located the file they are looking for so at this point the user knows where to look.
