This requirment I have to store .bin files in a sql server I have been told, or suggested that the way to handle that would be convert the .binary files (pdf,mp3, wav etc etc) to hex and then with using standard spt, send the hex string up to the sql server in a text type field.. or blob.

in theory, this sounds simple... however looking around the net, I have not been able to find a bin2 hex and hex to bin converter. which runs either as a dll,or exe so it could be called from inside vfp.

Persoanlly I was thinking that VFP could do the conversation itself, But how to write such an bin2hex type a bit over my head.

so I guess I am asking, does anyone know of a stable bin2hex converter which runs inside VFP ?

and I sure wouldnt mind hearing confirmation that my proposed solution to storing bin files on a sql type server sounds, like something that is done..
