>>At least it's only been 20 years (1980) since you're last World Series victory and 7 years (1993) since the last appearance. Try 93 (1908) and 56 (1945).< g >

>Hey, you're good (or did you look that up). BTW, found a neat baseball site the other night - it's called Baseball Almanac -
http://www.baseball-almanac.com/. I was trying to remember who had the Phillies only unassisted triple play. I didn't realize there were only 11 in the history of the game.
The Cubs stuff I knew off the top of my head. I knew the Phillies were in the series (against Toronto) in the 90s and won it in the 80s. I do recall what happened and the significance of Mitch Williams and Joe Carter in that series (both former Cubs, BTW.
One of the reasons I remember Phillies stuff is that my mother was from Philadelphia (Alden, actually).
>We did see a triple play once in person, but it wasn't unassisted.
Never saw that in person, nor a no-hitter.
>Have you seen the Phils' two rookie pitchers, Coggin and Figueroa? Came out of nowhere and they're both terrific.
Seen 'em both and I'm impressed. Of course, I'm having a bit of a problem (when it comes to pitching) looking past what the Cubs are doing. They're right behind Atlanta for the lead in ERA. They haven't been the league's best in that category since 1945 (
that year again< s >).
