We're a Novell/GroupWise shop here, too, and use this technique along with a product called "Guinevere" that acts as an interface between the GroupWise GWIA and McAfee's virus data. It scans every email, incoming and outgoing, and allows us to set rules on attachments. We already block all Office macros and limit the size of attachments.
