You're right, that would be a lot simpler. Oh well, it gave me an excuse to finally play around with triggers <g>, thanks Mark.
>You could just simplify all this and just have 1 field that does not contain any of the formatting. You can format the field on the VFP end by puttint R in the Format property and (999) 999-9999 in the InputMask property. What the R does is tell VFP not to save mask, just the numbers.
