Without the French the United States would still be "The Colonies"! I think if Napoleon was in charge earlier France would not have helped us. Now why did we choose the "right hand rule" (my electronics engineering back ground showing through with that term)? I will look into that as it is an interesting point you have raised! Maybe the guys who established this in the United States were left handed?
