I drove over the Grape Vine (I5 to Los Angeles) about 15 years ago and a wind storm hit. My 1974 Volvo had no problems but a new Caddy blew off the freeway into a ditch and wiped out the driver, just a few car lengths in front of us. When we got down to North Hollywood, we were told winds were clocked at 90 mph.

I had a 1969 VW Beetle that you held the steering wheel with both hands (death grip) to attempt to keep the car in your lane when things were normal. If there was a breeze you were in trouble. Prayer was a good option. Getting rid of it was a great decision. I vowed to never ride in another VW Beetle!
