I read several different comments, here and at WebConnect, that FrontPage was a nice, simple and powerful enough page designer for uncomplicated stuff.

Having installed it with Office2000 I thought I'd take a shot at learning how to make a web page. I had edited existing pages before, but never made one from scratch.

Anyway, I fired it up and went to its Help, looking to see how to start. With my usual aplomb, I didn't find what I was looking for.
But the 'design surface' looked wordish so I started typing. Eventually found some form "controls" (needed to make an EditBox) and noticed a "Label" control too. So, I surmised, that typing I had just done, that I thought was going to be a label, really wasn't one.
So I tried to make a Label and, after much frustration, came upon a highly non-intuitive way to do it. It seemed that one always has to define a "Label" in association with some other 'action' control.

Anyway, I finally got several labels and fields laid out, went to preview, and found stuff considerably out-of-whack compared to the 'design' view.
I went to adjust things. Boy, that was some kind of job!@$!#@!$!#!@!#!$!#!@!

My question:

What is the CORRECT way to make fine adjustments in the position/size of things on the form.

I guess I have one other question. . . is there some way to make the 'design' area much more closely resemble the preview?

Thanks in advance

Jim
