I understand it, too. My vision is 20/20, but I get eyestrain very easily. So I tend to make my fonts larger. I don't run large fonts on Windows, but I do bump up the textsize in IE. I can't believe how many websites simply don't work with the textsize set to "larger". And that's not even the biggest size! Even Microsoft is guilty of this. Try reading their website with "larger" textsize. The lines overlap each other.

The sad thing is that many web designers simply don't care. My husband has a website and his attitude is that if the user won't set their system to what is reccomended for his website, that's just tough.

>Having done voluntary work with the RNIB, I can understand the frustration felt by visually impaired people in using modern s/w. Much of the design is based on use by visually & physically able people, without any concern for anyone else. Accessibility aids only go so far in helping & if the application design is poor, they can make using the application harder.
