You can use the imaging controls available in most Windows versions. You would use the image scan control for that. You can look up msdn for "Imaging for Windows" or download the Imaging developers guide from www.eastmansoftware.com . I recommend the developers guide directly from Eastman Software, it's more comprehensive than the MSDN docs and better organized.
