no problem - the info was helpful. I would still prefer a "label as of this date/time" feature
Thanks,
Ken

>Duh. Sorry Ken, I didn't really answer your exact question. I sort of pointed out that you will be able to get the files you need without the label. Sorry about that.

>>Hi Ken,

>>You can do what you're looking for, it just isn't really clear that it performs this way.

>>- Go to the VSS Interface.
>>- Right click on your project (on the left), not a file (on the right).
>>- Click Show History (You need the advanced interface, so hold Shift if you don't have it set as a default)
>>- Check these boxes: Recursive, Include File Histories, Include Labels
>>- Don't check: Labels only.
>>- Click OK
>>- This will get you a list of all VSS activity.
>>- Locate in that list the _last_ activity you want to include in your snapshot.
>>- Click Get. (Once again, you need the advanced Get screen so hold down shift if you don't usually get it.) You should be asked whether you want to get the whole project from this version. Sometimes it doesn't. My experience has been when it doesn't ask, it gets the whole thing, which is what you want. Answer yes if it asks.
>>- In this dialog, you need to choose a new directory for your files. I'll assume you have a handle on all that.
>>- Check the Recursive / Make Writeable, Build Tree(if appropriate for you) boxes.
>>- Click OK.
>>
>>Now, in that directory, you'll have the project tree the way it looked at the time you made that last change you had hilighted.
>>
>>The interface advertises the same functionality with Check-Out. It does check out the right version, but goes haywire when you try to check-in. My advice is that you do the GET, then check in from the writeable directory if that's appropriate. If all you need is to build, the steps above will work fine.

>>>
>>>So - say I want to label the version that existed at 2:00 PM 7/23/01. I would put that datetime in the "To" field and search. I would then have to go through and label the "newest" version displayed of every file in the project? That is hundreds of files! What a PITA!
>>>
>>>I can't believe there is no way to simply get or label all the files in the project as they existed at a given point in time!
