I was sort of kidding about the 20+ hrs awake *every* day. It's usually only about 5-6 days a week.
And about enjoying life: I spend more waking hours during the week having fun than working. I usually work for about 35 hours/week and commute for 10 more hours. I sleep about 35 hrs/week and do chores and errands for 10 hrs. That leaves me about 78 hours/wk for fun. And I make sure that I have *plenty* of fun during those most important 11.1 hrs/day. I've sort of got it organized to where I spend all my extra money on fun stuff. Not too bad.
For instance, this weekend I left work on Thursday, and just got back at 9:30 am today. In between, I went fishing on a rented boat all day Friday with my brother and son, went to the beach for some ocean swimming and body surfing, played a perfectly functioning game of Robotron (the best video game ever) at an arcade, went to a pool party, had family over for a big dinner, listened to a Yankee game on the radio, watched the Yankee game on TV, hung around drinking with friends all Saturday night, played yard Bocce and had a great deli sandwich.
