Reading Rick's reply made me think of something else. The general recommendation for VBers who have massive code bases is to leave what they can in VB6 if it's working, write new code in .NET, if it makes sense, and wrap some code so that the code base can be converted over time.
IOW, the reengineering project might want to look at doing a really bang up designing the project's components to use the best tools for each bit which might help with the curve.
For example, I know a few VC++ programmers who are absolutely giddy with the ease with with they can work. Perhaps concentrate the .NET efforts in the areas that would have normally been done in VC++. Just a thought.
