David,

>I disable Norton Autoprotect when modifying VFP under VSS projects, it speeds it up from 30 secs or so to virtually instantaneous.

That was close to what I also saw as well.

>We've tested other virus scanners but without success.

Hmm.. I only have the Norton stuff here so I cannot help there..

Great!!

We sold our old home (yea!!) so I'm back to only one house payment. We're doing some landscaping and that's a welcome diversion from the sedentary computer desk jockey life. <g> Since I need to lose a few pounds it's a great deal.

God still loves me, though I still can't figure out why < BG > so all's well on that front.

We had Ginger, out toy attack poodle <g> spayed. She was pretty rugged for about 3-4 days but she's back to begging table scraps again so I'm presuming all's well in her little head. <g> BTW, Craig Berntson has been attack-licked by Ginger and hardly survived the ordeal... <g>

Work's going well. I'm overwhelmed by the sheer volume of work but enjoying it immensely. Like any other startup there are various kinds of struggles but things seem to be moving in the proper direction. Next week, who knows??? <g>

And you? I hope all is well with you and yours..

>>>I just moved my sourcesafe databases from my local machine to my server (Win2000K). Now when I am in VFP6 on my local machine and Modify Project xxx, it takes forever to bring up the project. Is there some way I can speed this up? My machine is a Win98SE P3 800 (256 MB RAM) and the server is a Win2000K P2 450 (256 MB RAM). No one else uses sourcesafe and it was quick enough before the move. (The network is 100 BaseT using a switch). No other network issues.

>>Just went through this last week. I don't know if my 'fix' will satisfy you as your circumstances may be different but perhaps it'll get you thinking along a different track. I turned off Norton's Anti-virus Auto-protect function whenever I open the vfp project and the speed's normal. I'm thinking that the slowdown was because every file is checked by Norton.

>>IOW, is anything like an anti-virus program perhaps interfering here?
Best,
