I am trying a "TABLEUPDATE( 2, .F., lamb )" on an updateable view and I get the error message "Table Number is Invalid"

The help for this message says "Select a table number between 1 and 255". A search for "table number" through the entire VFP on-line help yields one entry, the structure of an IDX file (not helpful in this case!).

When I try TABLEUPDATE( 1, .F. ), it returns a true and the base table is updated successfully. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
