Jim,

I think that I didn't make myself clear. The Professional subscription has mostly only the platforms - no developer tools (there are Office developers too).

The Universal subscription has developer tools.

VFP is a developer tool.

But you and I can speculate, opine, etc. all day long. MSFT decides whatever they want to do. < g >

>>You will notice that the Professional subscription includes the OS's but not Office or the .NET developer tools. Since VFP is a developer tool I assume that it will only be available with the Universal subscription.
>>
>>Don't forget, a developer can use the Universal subscription to distribute apps, so the added cost of the developer tools is rolled into the price.
>>
>>As far as I know, with the Professional subscription you'll still need a license for your main machine to cover you when you're wearing your "writing home to mother" hat - ie personal use.
>>
>>I don't see an advantage with the Universal subscription over Professional + VFP if you're _only_ doing VFP. But if you want to expand your skills, or have occasional use for other tools, then there is an advantage. Also, the Universal subscription allows you to use one copy of Office for personal use. So, add Professional + VFP + Office together and you're almost at the cost of the Universal subscription.
>>
>>Hope this helps.

>>>I hear that Visual Foxpro 7 is going to be available with an MSDN Subscription. Does this include the MSDN Professional subscription? I called the MSDN customer service center and, of course, the person I talked to didn't know.
>>>
>>>If it isn't included in the professional subscription, I am inclined toward purchasing the retail version of visual foxpro and subscribe to the MSDN Professional suscription for the supplemental stuff.
>>>
>>>Is there any benefit in subscribing to the Universal subscription vs the Professional subscription regarding foxpro related development once I have purchased the retail foxpro 7 product?
