I know that you can't rename components that are inherited from a container class. For example, if you have a pageframe class with 2 pages, and instantiate that, you can't rename page 1 or 2, but can rename additional pages if you increase the pagecount in the instance.

So, what does this have to do with your situation? Under Tools|Options, on the Forms tab, check to see what you have set for a template. If you have anything set for a formset template, when you create a new form, you'll actually get a formset instead, and the form in that formset can't be renamed.

A few days later I realized that my ability to subclass forms was severely impaired due to the fact that now I cannot change the name property when creating new forms. Good if you have only one form in you application...bad if you need more than one. On inspection the name property is still listed as Public and in my base.vcx the class frm (on which all my forms are based) also has the name property disabled but it is still listed as public. I am reasonably sure this is not an issue of access rights. I am concerned this may be a liscensing issue, or it could be as simple as a checkbox somewhere that I have missed.
