If an application relies on NDS (which an e-mail program could well do, if it's specifically designed to run on a Novell network) then, as I said, you'll need the Novell client, or else Microsoft Services for NDS (MSNDS) running on an NT/W2K box.

My experience, and the general consensus around here is that Client32 should be avoided if you're running FP/VFP apps especially, and that can probably be extended to any file-server based database that employs file and record locking. To use Client32 successfully requires late-version clients installed at all workstations with various caching and "go-fast" settings disabled.

There have been many threads discussing problems with Novell Client32 on this forum over the last couple of years.
