I remember a long thread discussing primary keys in which both you and I were involved (6 months?, 1 year ago?) and it was crystal clear to me that the sole reason that most VFP developers were so fanatical about surrogate keys is that it works great in their framework. They won't ever consider using natural keys because it would involve more effort on their part. Appropriateness is not an issue...

As I said before, people have to look somewhere other than a VFP forum for a more honest opinion.
