IC. FWIW I think this type of interface while seems good at first might not prove to be good. You can check FoxyClasses as an alternative to see how it's done explorer style (Click, Shift+Click, Ctrl+Click, NumPad +,-,* and search). My main reason for not doing it the way you thought was if selection would be enough multiple rows scrolling is nearly uncontrollable w/o mouse wheel. It either scrolls too fast or too slow :( AND user has to select consequetive rows :(
