Vlad - thanks for reply. It's set me off on the right track. I've added an 'Image button' to my toolbar. It selects a field from the active grid, checks if the file exists and displays the image using the picture clause. I've got it working with file names in memo text too which means picture file names can be mentioned in descriptions. Ta.
