Hi!
Because ActiveControl is available only when control is focused. Debugger window gets focus when you look to it, so that property is not available. You can test it by another way. Put a timer on the form and in the timer event store the reference to the last active control in the form property in case it is available (test it by TYPE() function). Do nto forget to clear that property in the form Destroy, otherwise form will not close ;)
HTH.
>I have an app I'm trying to debug and I thought I would use the ActiveControl to determine which object on a form has the focus. The problem is that in the debugger the value for ThisForm.ActiveControl is "Expression could not be evaluated." Why would it be unavailable? Thanks!

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs
It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
