I would only use Oracle if I needed total database security and/or a need for tables that will probably exceed the 2GB limit. There are probably reasons to go to Oracle, but those 2 come to mind most often. Other than that, you will get just as good or better performance using VFP DBC and tables.

I use VFP as a front-end for Oracle databases myself and it is a terrific match. You can find help here for questions on Oracle. We have also suggested books and web sites in previous threads in the UT VFP and Oracle forums.
