That may be. However, that is between the employer and the former employee. I really don't think you have much to worry about. I would bet that if the company only said to you that they needed to get into one of their PC's, you would not give it a second thought. If I was an attorney for the company, the first thing I would tell them is to not publicize any of this. i.e., as a consultant, you know way more information than you need to do know.
