>Hehe... No. Sorry. I'm used to the people I hang out with online knowing the lingo. :) "Capping" is short for "capturing". As in taking in TV/VHS/etc and converting them to a digital format. I do this for TV shows that I want to collect. I like it better than storing on VHS, though it does take more work.

Right after I sent my last message I thought 'Duh" and looking up AVI_OI on google. Sites I found explained it all.
"After you start the 3rd capture during the same run of the capture program,
you'd get about 2 seconds captured and then all drops. This was under
both 95-OSR2 and 98SE. Restarting the capture program, playing back some
video from within the capture program or sometimes reselecting the Marvel
under the devide menu would work around this. Note that all of these
options end up causing the capture device to get re-opened and thus reset."

So, you doing with TV video what Linux folks do with entertainment CDs (it's called 'ripping' a CD). It turns out that captureing video is all the rage in Penquin Land, too! The tool of choice is Broadway 2000, which is free, but there are several others. The biggest problem currently is with Athlon chips that have the 'southpark' problem that interfers with capturing files of lengths greater than 100MB. Kernel solutions are now out.
