Sometimes, you might think Nebraska was on another planet, one that grows big football players (GO HUSKERS!), but I'm sincere. As a public servant here, if you make a citizen mad, and he can prove just cause for his anger, you better brush up your private sector resume. The Tax Commissioner is an appointed position filed by the govenor. I've seen dept heads get demoted for being too arrogant and/or abusive of workers or citizens. We have personality problems here, for sure, but they are usually handled one-on-one. Nebraska a great place to live and state government is a great organization to work for. (And I was born and raised in Denver, CO).
