Hehe. I had to search around to find that one.
I read an interesting story about the origins of
SCRAM. When engineers where first developing a nuclear reactor they needed to add a way to drop the rods back into the reactor in case of an emergency. The rods where being lifted out through a series of ropes and pulleys. So they had a bunch of guys with axes stand near the ropes. If there was a problem, someone one would yell SCRAM, Start Cutting Right Away Man!
