>I drove my brother’s new (at the time) Corvair and after hitting some water on Hiway 101 just south of San Rafael, California, I realized that the car was not safe to drive! Ralph Nader's opinion is his own.

I see. I've just heard different opinions. I didn't have any first hand experience myself.

>One day the Corvair was parked in my brothers drive way and the motor fell off the motor mounts and hit the ground. Good thing it was parked! We were upstairs when it happened and heard the noise. That is when he sold it and got a then brand new Shelby GT 350 1966 Mustang with Cobra kit. The Shelby version allowed you to wear a “brain bucket” and since my brother and I are tall, there was plenty of head room. The car did 175 in the quarter, got 6 miles to a gallon of gas (28.9 cents a gallon) and wore out a set of high performance tires at least once a month. Now, that was a car!

Ah, yes. Boss 302, Plymouth Road Runner, Dodge Daytona, Challenger, Duster, Hemi-cuda, SS, Drive-in restaurants, Drive-in movies ... those were the days ... :)
