I gather you've moved on from this. But I just realized you never mentioned what buffering method you use

No, I haven't moved on, just a couple of things came up that I had to attend to. I have been living with this for years, so I figured a couple more days wouldn't hurt (I guess that sort of is moving on). In any case, you gave me tons of things to think about. I'll go back today and look through the messages again to see what my next step should be. I use either optimistic table or row buffering depending on circumstances.
