Tamar;

As a fourth generation San Franciscan, I knew nothing about Candlestick Park and the fog during the month of July. I was born and raised in Eureka valley, on the East side of Twin Peaks and we never got ground fog.

In 1972, a friend from Arizona and his wife were visiting and invited us to a Giants baseball game. I had never been to a night game so this was a first (and last) time experience. My wife and I had on light windbreakers to keep us warm. All was well for one and a half innings.

We thought our friends were strange since they brought blankets with them. Suddenly fog began to creep over the third base wall and cover the seats and spectators one at a time from the top most to the bottom. It resembled white flowing cotton candy and continued to flow over the playing field. After a few minutes we could not see the third or second bases. Needless to say by that time there was no outfield. We were sitting in the first row in front of first base. What an experience! Our friends gave us a blanket to keep warm and I found it to be a truly strange experience.
