A famous comedian named Jack Benny had a running gag for decades that he was 39. This started before I was born and my family listened to his radio and then watched his TV program for years. Everyone would laugh at his insistence he was 39. He lived to be about 80 by the way.

One day I celebrated my 39th birthday and while looking into the mirror while shaving, realized what this all meant to me. You will be 39 once and that is as far as you want to age. However life may have something else in mind for you – if you are lucky.

The older you get the more you suffer and as long as you suffer you know you are alive.
