Do you know the thread number? I believe, the problem was discussed here, but I don't remember details.

Well, if luxury of 16 chars for PK is allowed, it's a valid approach, I guess. Hilmar will have a FAQ here soon. His tests indicated, what character PK work faster than Integer. I didn't run the similar tests, but it would be interesting to try to compare Integer vs. Character PK in speed.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
