Hi Tyx,

You should use the product and post specific questions about it. Particularly when you encounter problems. I don't even know why I bother... I've never seen students who post homework on newsgroups or forums ever return to check for answers (and if they do, I've never seen a single one posting a thank you message).

Aaaaanyway, I'm a bit bored, so let me take a shot... maybe someone at MS sees my answers and decides I don't need to take the test to get certified...

Visit http://www.hentzenwerke.com how's that? I'm pointing you, you go.

> - Discuss the different pointer operations provided

You may order a book or two through email or via phone.

> - Discuss if the language provides solutions for dangling pointers and garbage problems

Despite his german sounding name, I think Whil speaks English only. Regarding the garbage, and "danglingness", I don't think he has problems in those areas, but you can always ask him directly (there... another pointer).

> - what are scope and lifetime of a pointer variable used?

Some (if not all) of the books have companion .chm files, which theoretically should last forever. I don't think the books are archival quality, so I'd give them about 50 years tops.

> - does the language provide heap-dynamic variables? What is its lifetime?

Variables? Yeah, a heap of them. As long as you can come up with new and longer variable names you can keep adding.

No one knows about its lifetime... So far the "experts" at Gartner have been the only ones to venture theories about this.

> - are pointers used restrictred as to the type of value to which they can point?

As long as you don't poke anyone's eye with them it should be fine.

> - are pointers used for dynamic storage management, indirect addressing or both?

No, you just point with them. Of course, if someone asks your friend for directions, and your friend asks you, and you point to some point in the horizon, which tells the other person where to go, you could say you're using your pointer for indirect addressing. As you probably know, if the person asks YOU for directions, the addressing would be direct.

> - should the language support pointer types, reference types, or both?

It does! There are 14 different pointer types as it is now:
0 (Default) Shape determined by the object.
1 Arrow.
2 Cross. A cross-hair pointer.
3 I-Beam.
4 Icon. A small white square within a black square.
5 Size. A four-pointed arrow pointing north, south, east, west.
6 Size NE SW. A double arrow pointing northeast and southwest.
7 Size NS. A double arrow pointing north and south.
8 Size NW SE. A double arrow pointing northwest and southeast.
9 Size WE. A double arrow pointing west and east.
10 Up Arrow.
11 Hourglass.
12 No Drop.
13 Hide Pointer.
14 Arrow.
