I am having trouble getting vfp to establish a winsock connection.

The application is for credit card authorisation and uses third party software to do all the card handling stuff. i need to establish a winsock tcp connection to this software. I know the remotehost ip and remote port (1024) .
using The MS winsock control that comes with vfp i cant establish a connection -i cant seem to get the syntax right, and the help is of no use at all.

Anyone out there who could give me some pointers or suggest a different (Free!) Winsock activex control ?
