1. Get a copy. <g> There is a
ton of materials you can download for free to get you started but you really want to purchase a copy to 'get at' the source code. It's invaluable IMO.
2. Hang out on the WC Message Board. Lots of smart, nice and WC-savvy folks over there.
3. Go through Rick's tutorials. They're pretty thorough.
4. Attend a training class if you are able.
5. Build a couple test sites, using the tutorial as a start.

I've been using it for about 6 months and have yet to build a web page. I use if for back-end types of operations. We'll get to the web page stuff at some point but right now I hardly think about it at all...
