Thanks Patrice. Actually I had tried using a store procedure as well (although I had the stored procedure created using a command object within Visual Basic). Got the exact same results using thst. No errors on the execution of the command object but as soon as I tried to reference with the recordset I receieved the invalid object error. :(

P.S. I am using Visual Basic 6.0 SP5.
