Thanks for the suggestion about the DynamicInputMask. So here is what I attempted to do:

IIF(report1.debit_chk=.T.,(99999999.99)

I placed this code in the DynamicInputMask field of the total grid column. However, when I issue a refresh or go back into the form, the value does not change. Do you see anything that I am doing wrong?
