You're not alone! :)

I had another explosion just a hour ago. I had a table locked exclusively, in the VFP developer, and had added another field. I clicked "OK" to confirm the addition and close the table. Instantly, the entire VFP Dev window disappeared,
but the VFP box on the toolbar stayed. It was inactive, however. None of the other toolbar icons were active, either. When I used the task manager to kill the VFP6.EXE instance in memory, I got a message saying it was being 'debugged' and couldn't be closed. Catch-22. As I tried and retried various icons, none being active, they began disappearing until I was eventually left with my blue background screen (BSOD :) and only the taskmanager "working" via the three keys. I took the task manager reboot option. Nada. Zilch, Zero, nothing. So, I hit the reset button.
When it came back up I had some files and directories that lost their ownership, their icons and wouldn't show the security tab from the properties option. Attempting to run them by double clicking on them produced a message saying "can't run 16 bit programs".

I installed SP2 last week to make my W2K more stable. I fear the worse has happened. Since the service pack install it definately seems to be more unstable. The techies around here have made fun of my problems with W2K because I am a Linux Geek, but while the prime techie was working on my machine to restore my access to directories and their contents, mentioned above, to an accessable status, W2K suddenly rebooted on him, totally suprising him. All he was doing was clicking around with "Windows Exploder".

I wish now I hadn't installed SP2. It was much more stable before. I only installed SP2 in an attempt to eliminate the problem with Internet Explorer producing the error msg shown above. Now, VFP, both Explorers and about every other app will product that msg when you close them down. I may have to reinstall W2k.... But before I do that I think I will return to Win98SE.
