Microsoft SQL Server
Also, do you happen to know, if the person who installed this instance of SQL did not turn off named pipes, can that be changed?
>While installing SQL 2000 I was told by a network consultant to turn off named pipes under "Custom" installation. I've done that in the couple of cases where I've done the installation. However, now I'm trying to work with a server that someone else installed, and when I try to setup workstations to connect to it attach to it through ODBC I get the following error:

You have to install the client tools on the workstation and setup the connection to use what ever you've selected (most likely TCP/IP).
