This is not entirely correct. MSDE isn't limited to 5 connections. This is MS's recommendation, but Carl Karsten posted at wikis some benchmarks. He tested MSDE with 30 simultan connections without performance penalty per connection.
Also, there is no need for 2 processors. Just a horde of RAM. And the RAM is extremely cheaper. With 120 USD you can buy 512 MB RAM. And is more than enough.
