>Reading Delphi 6 FAQ (http://www.borland.com/delphi/del6/faq.html#whatis) some features cought my attention, starting with "What is Delphi 6?". The next one "What are Web Services and why is this an emerging market? " and "What is the Borland's.Net strategy?" made me think if that's a kind of different .NET approach to address the same problems of web development (sorry but I know nothing deeper about .NET than just general marketing issues).

Delphi doesn't compete with VFP; it competes with VB (and VC).

At it's heart, its an object-oriented Pascal compiler. It gets it's functionality from its 300+ VCL component library which varies depending on which version of Delphi you get. It's the same library utilized by Kylix and C++ Builder.
