What happens if someone cancels the Add or deletes a record? You'll be missing a number. IMO, don't assign the number until the user actually saves the record.


Thanks Craig for this. I'll try it out. I didn't choose for the PK to be sequential ..... the scientist I'm working for wants it to be that way. I hope I can convince him that it isn't necessary.
