Just adding that VFP7 allows cursors created by SQL - Select to be writeable, by the addition of a new clause. Not certain that this works in RecordSource property, but I'd guess so.

Also the cursor needs to be real and not just a filtered view of the original data. Add NOFILTER to your SQL sataement to make your cursor real then you should be able to update it.
