Basically because the OS's MS are releasing now are unreliable.
I still have a major client who refuses to use anything other than the last reliable OS Microsoft produced - namely MSDOS 6.22, for their main factory control system. They have a 50+ computer network, using only DOS & have not had a single OS related failure in over 12 years of operation. As for being a non-supported OS, its not an issue because they have never needed support.
Now their main company system, running a variety of versions of Windows from 3.11 up to NT over the same period of time has had regular failures.
