>Is there a way to make a row appear "selected" -- i.e., change to a different color when clicked? Also, is there a way to make the grid react to clicking so that when any column is clicked, it does NOT go into edit mode? Basically, I am trying to create a picklist effect while still allowing the user to view a myriad of fields in a grid. Any help is appreciated!

You can set your grid to be ReadOnly. For the first problem you can either use Cetin Basoz Multiselect grid (check two grid classes in Download section here) or you can try Nick Nekloudov's GridHighlighter. I used both classes, and they both work great.

The third way would be to look at DynamicBackColor property in Help and example.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
