That's not a problem in this case. All I want is to get the serial number for the drive where my app is installed in order to implement a licencing system. The app will always be on a local hard drive, but any of Win95/98/ME/NT4/Y2K (XP ...) and any of FAT/FAT32/NTFS and any partition configuration.

I am still amazed that the problems with GetVolumeInformation (if that is so), known for years and years, could be repackaged into an 'new' MS technology with current download status.

I'm waiting on a test site to reply with the results of a small test app.

>Possibly for the same reason that it doesn't report the correct size of drives bigger than 2 gb under Win9x. Lowest common denominator. You also have to remember that in those cases where the server is running under an OS different from WinNT/2K, you may get problematic results as well.
