Hi Al,
>1. If you're running IPX/SPX you probably have one or more Novell servers on your network. You could create a print queue on the server, then use the HP software to configure the appropriate port on the print server to service the queue. To print from W2K, simply print to the Novell queue.
This works, thanks.
>2. You could install TCP/IP on your W2K box if you haven't already. Assign an IP address to the print server and port numbers/names to its ports. You can then create either a TCP/IP printer port on your W2K box or use the Unix-style LPD protocol; in each case specify the IP address/port combination you want to attach to on the print server.
Would you explain more about this, please. I am only now considering TCP/IP (haven't done before for security reasons, per recomendation of grc.com). How do you assign an IP number to the JetDirect print server?
Alex
