Well, VFP can do Web Services just like Delphi. Web Services are nothing new, its basically just an HTTP call that runs a program somewhere out on the cloud (the latest and greatest word for "Internet") and returns a value that the caller can use programmtically.

SOAP is one way of doing web services. VFP7 doesn't support SOAP natievly, but it doesn't need to, there are components can call to do it for you. Delphi does this nativley.

I dont' think Delphi goes any farther into .NET than that. What is interesting though, is cross platform support. Just like its got ways to get to .NET, Delphi 6 has ways to get to Sun's ONE platform. Delphi apps are also easily (or so I've heard) ported to Kylix, so you can run on Linux. They also have someting called "ActiveForms" that make thin clients out of regular Delphi form, might be worth some more investigation.
