Unfortunately, it would not work on all printers.
I tried the same approach, using chr(12) and it printed square box instead.
Look into FoxTalk March 2001 Cathy Pountney article for the technique I came to insert blank pages if group ends on the odd page.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
